YOUNG sensational rapper Nasty C has been stripped of two of his nominations for the 23rd South African Music Awards.
Social media erupted after the nominations were made as many questioned how the Hell Naw hit maker’s two videos got nominated for Video of the Year when they were aired after the closing date for submissions.
The two videos, Good Girls and Don’t Do It were uploaded to YouTube after January 31st as per the competition rules.
Event organisers on Tuesday made the announcement
“Our investigations have revealed that the videos were submitted for entry on 24 January 2017. We have further determined that the videos were not flighted before the closing date of the entries of 31 January 2017 as required by the SAMA rules. In light of this, the two music videos are automatically disqualified because they do not meet the criteria for Best Music Video Category,” organisers said in a statement.
The organisers added that they accepted full responsibility for the error.
Replacement nominees would be announced soon.
The changes mean Kwesta now leads the nominations with six nods for the event that will be held in May.
