Manhunt for brutal lion killers

POLICE in Tzaneen, Limpopo, have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the unlawful hunting of three brown male lions whose heads and paws were cut off.

Lions in South Africa are categorised as specially protected animals. Environmental authorities have to issue a special permit for their hunting.

It is alleged that unknown number of suspects have cut the fence and entered the lion cage at Letaba River Lodge outside Tzaneen and killed three brown male lions in the early hours of yesterday.

Subsequently, they cut all the lions’ legs, paws and heads. The total value of the lions is R900 000. 00.

No arrest has been made so far and police investigations are still continuing.
