LIMPOPO police have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the brutal killing of a 23-year old man for alleged ritual purposes in Muledane outside Thohoyandou.

Police spokesperson Lt.Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the body was found by a passer-by at a local soccer field in the early hours of today, Monday April 24. His nose, lips and both ears were missing.

“The police preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased might have been killed somewhere and dragged to this scene. The motive behind this killing is unknown but ritual related murder may not be ruled out. The suspects are still unknown and there is no arrest,” Ngoepe said.

Members of the community tried to block some roads in the area in protest against the murder. However, public order police immediately quelled the situation.

“The Police would like to request members of the community to be calm and give us a space to investigate this case in full,” Ngoepe said.

He said anyone with information can contact Lt.Colonel William Ramokhubedu at 082 499 8389 or the nearest police station.
