Brazil is the next destination for the ambitious and God fearing Nkuna sisters.
Xikhongelo “Congi” Nkuna (15) and her younger sister, Tiyiselani “Tiyi” Nkuna (12) are keenly waiting for 26 August to arrive as their modelling careers are set to take a different dimension. The two will be competing in the Miss Nations pageant against other equally intelligent and stunning teenagers from 43 countries including Estonia, France and Portugal.
Congi won the Miss Teen Queen World SA 2016 held at Meridian College Full Gospel Church in Phalaborwa. It was judged by Jury Amanda Kriel and Brendan Kriel on 6 February. The pageant was staged to select queens to partake in Miss Nations in Brazil.
Speaking on behalf of her daughters, the seasoned educator, Florah Nkuna-Mabaso said her girls would be in Brazil for two weeks. She called on Good Samaritans to help them attain their dreams.
“In 2014 and 2015, Tiyi went to Turkey competing with girls from 43 nations. The girls are highly disciplined and passionate about modelling. We taught them to live by God’s ways from an early age hence even today everything they do centers around God’s wishes. I am confident that they will fly the country, Limpopo and Phalaborwa’s flags with distinction,” explained a delighted Nkuna.
Nkuna says the teenagers need funds to cover logistics as they will be based in the South American country for a fort night. Congi, a grade nine learner at The King Fisher Private School, has had her star rising since 2012. She won the Miss Summer Breezer (2012), Miss African continent 2015 (Turkey-Europe), Best evening wear 2015 (Turkey-Europe), 2nd Princess Miss Hittefees (2015) and Miss Queen World S.A 2016.
For her part, Tiyi, a grade seven pupil at Phalaborwa Laerskool Noord, has several titles under her belt including 1st Princess Queen World in 2014; Miss African continent (Antalya-Europe) in 2014; Miss Personality (2014) Antalya-Europe; Miss Tourism (2015) Antalya-Europe and 1st Princess Pre-Teen Queen World S.A (2016).
